Affiliated to Beijing Sports Administration, Beijing Lucheng Athletics Technique School is an important athletic training base with a combined system of cultural education and physical training. Established in 1986 and moved from Xicheng District to Daxing District in 1988, the school functions to foster outstanding athletes for Beijing to play on national or international stages and for the country to win medals and glory. It now has five sport programs, namely, bicycle riding, baseball, archery, women’s hockey, men’s soccer.
Located 4 kilometers west to Huangcun, Daxing District, the school covers an area of 367 thousand square meters, providing excellent conditions for training and education.
Since establishment, there’re 59 people from this school who have won the title as “master sportsman”, 232 students enrolled by Beijing’s professional sport teams, and 448 grads for the society. Liu Ying from the women’s national football team, Yang Chen, Yang Pu, Shao Jiayi, Tian Ye, Zhou Ning, Tao Wei, Nan Fang, Xue Shen from men’s national football team and Beijing Guo’an Club are all rose from here. Several members on the bicycle riding team have won championship nation-wide and even Asia-wide. Baseball team is the best of all who has kept the national championship for 8 times. 50% of the national baseball team is out of here. Wang Ying, a female archer, once broke the world record of women’s 70-meter single knock-out; the archery team has won championship in men’s/women’s group and men’s/women’s singles for totally 27 times. The women’s hockey team has also obtained desirable results in nation-wide games. In addition, the school has been given the title as “model unit of the capital” for 7 times from 1994 to 2001, as well as the title of “garden unit of the capital”.
In 11th, April, 2002, the secretary of the municipal committee Jia Qinglin, the mayor Liu Qi, together with some other leaders visited the school to do inspection and research, and then required to make the school a world’s top modern comprehensive training center.
