Beijing male and female handball team was established in 1973, although its history is not very long, it actually has increased much brilliance for the motherland. After 1990s, the training and living condition of Beijing male and female handball team has greatly improved with the stable upper class scores in the country, from 1992 until now, the male and female handball team always ranks the first three places of the country. In 2003, under the leader of the head coach An Futian, Beijing men's team successfully won every skilled teams and athletes, recapturing the eight years of the long separated national champion. After 1990, Beijing women's team altogether obtained 8 times of national champion, among which, in the year 1993, 1997, and 2001, it realized to win three successive sessions of champion in the national games. While achieving excellent scores, Beijing male and female handball team has provided large quantities of outstanding trainers and the athletes for the country and made the prominent contribution for the Chinese handball enterprise construction and the development.
