Break New Grounds for the Future and Create
another Outstanding Achievement(Article used as a preface)¡ªSun Kanglin,

Being established in September 1953, Beijing Sport Administration
(the original Beijing physical culture and sport commission) has already
experienced 50 years glorious years. Under the correct leadership
of the municipal party committee and municipal government, coupled
with the support of the public citizen and all walks of life in the
society, as the administration department of sport career for the
municipal government, Beijing Sport Administration plays an important
role in studying and formulating the development plan and the guiding
policies of the sports enterprise development of the whole city, building
up the people's health, improving the level of acrobatic gymnastics,
and serving the material and ethical construction with substantial
achievements.
For 50 years, specially since the implementation of the reform and
open policy, Beijing sports enterprise has made unceasing progresses
with gratifying achievement: There are successive generations of athletics
of competitive sports with outstanding scores; Popular sports vigorously
develop with great appeal; The sports facility construction consummates
day by day with tremendous developing momentum of sports industry;
the foreign exchanges and cooperation on sports expand unceasingly.
In the early period of the establishment of the country, there were
only four physical events in Beijing, namely soccer, basketball, volleyball
and table tennis with less than 100 athletics. Nowadays, the number
of the events has been amounted to 28 with nearly 1000 people. Such
items as shooting, diving, gymnastics, table tennis, martial arts,
softball, women's soccer, baseball, tennis, airplane parachuting,
chess, and so on have made remarkable scores in the national and international
matches, with top athlete with international reputation as Zhuang
Zedong, Lang Ping, Song Xiaobo, the Li Rong glory, Nie Weipin, Xie
Jun, Yang Ling, Li Na, Zhang Yining and so on coming to the fore.
What should be especially mentioned are the events in recent years
that Yang Ling continued to hold the title of shooting champion in
Olympic Games,Li Na won the gold medal of two people diving of 10
meters platforms in Olympic Games and Xie Jun won numerous honors
to be the championof chess. Until the end of 2002, athletes in our
city have altogether attained 149 world champions, 144 Asian champions
and 592 National champions with enormous honor for the motherland
and the capital achieved. The implement of "The Summary of People
Health and Fitness Plan " has achieved the remarkable result,
such activities as the people fitness sports festival of which is
hold two year a time, annual people fitness propaganda week, as well
as the conservative and series of activities running through the year,
have made the civil sports become popular to every corner of the city.
For example: long-distance race, mountaineering, Yangko, martial arts,
flying kite, winter swimming, musical exercises, gymnastic exercises
and so on have become a tradition, The resident¡¯s self-conscious of
strengthening physique has greatly enhanced, the scientific, healthy
and civilized leisure activities for fitness have become a important
part of resident¡¯s living style and the content. Our city has planed,
constructed and improved a series of facility for sports match and
the necessary facilities, our city has once succeeded held the first,
second, third, fourth and seventh sessions of national sports meeting,
as well as the 11th session of Asian Games and 21st session of world
university students' sports meeting, in addition, it is going to hold
2008 Summer Olympics. By using the public welfare fund of sports lottery,
our city has established widespread fitness sports projects in our
national capital, providing convenient places for the fitness and
leisure of the people. Industries coupled with sports industry such
as fitness entertainment industry, the sports competition performance,
sports lottery sale and the sporting goods production and sale and
so on have made tremendous improvement. The sports industry has gradually
become a new economical point of growth in our city. Foreign exchanges
of sports in our city is being widespread day by day, Specially in
recent years, every year there are not only nearly thousand of athletes,
the trainers and the sports experts visited the places and regions
all over the world, at the same time, there are also some contestants
and the sports associations coming from the countries all over the
world, who came to Beijing for communication. At present, we have
carried out many communication and cooperation. with South Korea,
Japan, North Korea, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia as well as the Hong
Kong, Aomen, Taiwan area in China and so on.
The review of the past is for better look ahead to make the future
plan. It can be concluded that it is the best time for the development
of sports enterprise in our city now, for the historical opportunities
we are facing. In order to successfully conduct the Olympic Games
in 2008, accelerate the speed of being a modernized international
metropolis and taking the lead of basically realizing the modernization,
meet the increasingly growing sports culture requirement of the residents
day by day and consummate the capital city function, the municipal
party committee and the municipal government published and issued
"the Opinions of Establishing the International City of Sports
Center of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government¡±
in this July 16, in which the grand target of the Construction of
the internationalized city of sports center is put forward. In the
next several years, the important part of our work is to successfully
accomplish various targets and tasks under the guidance of the document
with the combination of the actual situation of the whole city, that
is an extremely honorable but the arduous duty for the sports workers
of the whole city.
Facing the precious situation, it is our common withes to have the
great stride and development of the Sports enterprise in Beijing by
holding the opportunity and taking the advantages of a favorable situation.
Favorable situation is both an opportunity and a challenge, But so
long as we always set up the idea: the challenge is a difficulty and
a new beginning with full confidence, facing the challenges, converting
disadvantageously to advantageous, we can move towards the new victory
unceasingly.
How fast is the fifty years, just like the instant you flip the finger.
It is not only was the magnificent historical summary in the past
but also a new tremendous developing beginning of Beijing sports enterprise.
The aim of our publication of the book is exactly to record and spread
50 years of the respectable characteristic and the glorious tradition
of not fearing the difficulties, bravely enduring hardship, making
unremitting effort, strive for success, not resting on one's laurels,
being active to make innovation and being generous with consecration,
so that we can urge the people involved and enlighten the successor.
I hoped that all the sports workers of the whole city will take advantage
of the turning point of commemorating and celebrating the 50th year
of the establishment of the Beijing Sport Administration, going all
out to make the nation strong, working diligently and making comprehensive
improvement so as to cultivate ourselves as comprehensive talent with
high quality and make due contribution for the unremitting progress
of the sports enterprise of our city. I believe that with the correct
leadership of the municipal party committee, the municipal government
and the State Physical Culture Administration and the studious support
from all walks of life in the society, with the joint effort of the
whole city sports workers, we can make the promise that we cannot
disappoint the expectation of the municipal party committee, the municipal
government and the general residents or insult the historical mission,
we shall make good organization and leadership of the sports workers
of the whole city , managing to build the internationalized city for
sports center and to hold a most splendid session of Olympic Games,
making more contributions for the aim of taking the leader of basically
realizing the modernization and constructing the modernized international
metropolis t!
The future of the sports enterprise of Beijing certainly will be much
more splendid, let us make efforts hand in hand to create magnificence
